Frequently asked questions

Everything people usually ask before their first mix.

Q.Is VINNY VNS free to use?

Yes. There's no account, subscription, or payment required to load tracks and mix.

Q.Do I need to download or install anything?

No. The console runs entirely in your browser tab using the YouTube IFrame Player, so nothing is downloaded to your device.

Q.Why does moving the Pitch slider also change the Speed?

YouTube's player doesn't offer an independent pitch-shift control — it only exposes a single playback-rate parameter that changes speed and pitch together, exactly like a turntable. VINNY VNS links the two controls to reflect that honestly rather than faking independent behavior.

Q.Why do the VU meters look "simulated" rather than reacting to the actual audio waveform?

YouTube's audio plays inside a sandboxed, cross-origin player that browsers don't allow other pages to analyze directly. The meters instead react to real playback state — what's playing, at what volume — which is the standard approach for browser tools built on YouTube's player.

Q.Can I use private or age-restricted videos?

Only videos that YouTube allows to be embedded on other sites will load and play. Private, restricted, or embedding-disabled videos will show an error.

Q.Does this download or save any audio?

No. Everything streams live from YouTube through its own player. Nothing is recorded, cached, or re-hosted.

Q.Does it work on mobile?

Yes — the layout and controls are touch-friendly and adapt to phone, tablet, and desktop screens.

Q.What happens to my Prev/Next queue if I reload the page?

Each deck's queue lives only in that browser tab's memory for the current session, so refreshing the page clears it. Reload your tracks and you're straight back in.
